FAI BOARD OF DIRECTORS // MEET SCOTT

SCOTT MONTGOMERY // COO

Following Jesus rarely results in a predictable story, and Scott’s life is a testimony to the Lord’s ability to write an interesting one. When he first graduated high school, Scott got a job at a bakery thinking it would be a short-term stopping stone as a young adult. Instead, he spent twenty years in the food industry, working his way to a position as a District Manager and National Account Manager for Aramark/ServiceMaster Facility Services. He married his wife Renee in 1991, left New England for a scenic path south, eventually landing in Alabama by way of South Carolina, Baton Rouge, and a few years in South Korea. In 2001, the Montgomerys helped launch a new church in Birmingham. Scott came on staff as Missions Pastor and Capital Projects Manager, roles he would serve for fourteen years, both connecting their local community with the global Gospel field and bearing responsibility to buy and develop several church properties across Alabama. He stepped down from these positions in 2019 as he and Renee launched SOAR Global, a non-profit advocating for the unreached by fostering connections between those with resource and those in need, and fundraising for many serving the unreached to stay on the field, unhindered by a lack of resource.

Scott remains deeply impacted by Jesus’ initiative to forgive him before he knew he needed it, and strives to follow that example. He’s loved Romans 15:20 since long before he met the FAI family, as he believes our natural instinct upon receiving the Gospel should be to find others who’ve not yet heard it, and share it with them as well. It’s no mystery why he’s a natural fit to serve on the Frontier Alliance International Board of Directors, and we are so thankful for how he consistently champions and resources the growth of the Gospel across the 10/40 Window. Three billion people are alive right now and still haven’t heard the name of Jesus. This keeps Scott up at night, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
