FAI BOARD OF DIRECTORS // MEET MARTIN

MARTIN MALLORY // director of pastoral care

Born and raised in Michigan, Martin earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Social Work from Eastern Michigan University in 1985 before moving to Wilmore, KY to pursue graduate studies at Asbury Theological Seminary. He married his wife Sharon in 1987, and went on to earn his M. Div from Asbury in 1991 and Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky the following year. He established Manna Counseling Service in 1993, through which Martin has and continues to serve innumerable clients facing a variety of emotional, spiritual, and relational issues; he frequently travels to conferences and congregations worldwide to train leaders and speak regarding these topics. A second Manna Counseling office was opened in January 2001 in cooperation with Living Waters Church of Shelbyville, Kentucky.

In addition to his private practice, Martin is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and serves/has served a number of churches and organizations as a consultant, elder, and/or Board member, including Great Commission Fellowship, Ichthus Ministries, GO International, and Cornerstone International. He began teaching at his alma mater in 2008, now an Affiliate Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Asbury University. Martin also serves Frontier Alliance International both as a Board Director and, with his wife Sharon, as Director of Pastoral Care for our Gateway Center leaders and field personnel. They travel to our teams and locations several times a year, and regularly speak with many members of FAI via video/phone calls.

Like any good Michigan offspring and Kentucky transplant, Martin loves spending time outdoors. He loves living in the Bluegrass region and really appreciates the culture Asbury has cultivated in his adopted hometown. If you’re able to catch him in his free time and he’s not outdoors, he’s probably logging a session on a drum kit. He’s played for worship teams and bands since long before his college years.

Driven by John 15:16 and a conviction that the most meaningful thing to do with each day is engage in eternal things, Martin prioritizes the Word of God and the souls of people, knowing neither will ever pass away. He therefore has committed himself to the promotion of the Gospel and serving the Great Commission, both in his local context and worldwide. The FAI family is grateful for Martin’s encouragement, service, and support. He is one of the most sacrificial men we know and we are blessed to have him as a father in our midst.
